A 24-year-old man from Oshiwara was allegedly stabbed to death by three men on Saturday, when he confronted them, suspecting they had burnt his bike last month.

The Oshiwara police has arrested one of the accused, who has a criminal record, while two of them are at large.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 9.15 pm on Saturday in Gulshan Nagar, Jogeshwari (West), where the deceased, Sufiyan Khan and the arrested accused – 24-year-old Asif Batla reside.

Khan suspected that Batla had burnt his bike on November 23 and based on some leads, confronted him regarding the same. This led to a heated argument and Batla and his two aides stabbed Khan four times on his chest, hands and legs.

Khan was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday. Batla fled from the spot but the police tracked him down, said inspector Shashank Bhandare.

Based on the statement of Sufiyan’s father -- Mohamed, the police on Saturday, registered an FIR against the accused for attempt to murder, under the Indian Penal Code. After Khan’s death on Sunday, the police added a murder section to the case.

Batla will be produced before a magistrate court on Monday. A probe is on to track his aides.
