Following in the footsteps of Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), officials from Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) took action against 60 to 70 illegal establishments at Shil Road on Tuesday. Officials said though the action against illegal establishments will continue till Wednesday, the period could be extended.
Deputy municipal commissioner Suresh Pawar said, “The drive against illegal establishment will continue. Several unauthorised establishments like garages, vegetable stalls and service centres, among others, have been demolished along the Netivali Road.”
The anti-encroachment team, headed by ward officer Arun Wankhede, took action which was also the result of efforts taken by the Corporator Raveena Mali of Bhopar-Sandap village. Mali has been raising the issue of squatters with civic chief E Ravendiran time and again.
