On-duty constable dies after suffering from cardiac arrest

Suresh Salve, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A 48-year-old police constable died due to heart attack during the wee hours of Friday, in the Bhiwandi control room. The constable, Suresh Sarjeraon Salve had earlier complained of chest pain.

Salve was attached to the Bhiwandi control room since the last nine months, and hails from Ahmednagar. He resided in the police quarters at Bhiwandi.

A police officer from the Bhiwandi zone said, “Salve’s father had retired a few months ago as a Police Sub Inspector from the Thane police force. Salve was a brave police constable. In the morning, he had complained of chest pain, and told us that he would like to rest in one of the rooms. Later when we tried waking him up, he did not respond. We rushed Salve to the Indira Gandhi Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead on arrival”.

Salve’s family were alerted about the incident and the body has been taken to Ahmednagar for the final rites. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son,” said Thane police PRO Sukhda Narkar.

Narkar said, “Salve was a fit constable. After he complained of chest pain, Salve collapsed on the floor. He then told the other officers that he wanted to rest. It was in sleep we suspect that he might have got heart attack, but we are awaiting the post mortem report”.

The nearby police station has taken a note of the incident.
