2006 Malegaon blasts: Court rejects plea for re-probe

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday turned down plea of three accused arrested seeking reinvestigation in the 2006 Malegaon blasts case.

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday turned down plea of three accused arrested seeking reinvestigation in the 2006 Malegaon blasts case.

The HC disposed of their petitions saying there was another remedy available to them and they may move the trial court for appropriate orders.

They had sought re-investigation on the basis of an affidavit filed by co-accused Abrar Ahmed in April 2009. Abrar, who had been projected by the prosecution as an approver in the case, has retracted his statement through the affidavit.

In his affidavit, he said ATS sleuths had taken him to various places where he was introduced to alleged Hindu fanatics arrested in the 2008 Malegaon blast.
