In an effort to enhance security at Mumbai and Delhi airports, the government has sanctioned more than 800 additional security personnel.

Currently, both the airports have a combined strength of around 4,300 Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) men.

While the the Mumbai International Airport will have 518 additional CISF personnel, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport will have 289 new posts in the ranks of constables, sub-inspectors and inspectors.

The new strength will be used to secure the vicinity of these airports as anti-sabotage measures and in view of heightened terror threats.

The strength of the security men drawn from the CISF has also been enhanced at the Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri Gas and Power Limited (231 posts). The Aurangabad airport has also been granted additional 55 posts of security men.
