British boy band One Direction is making waves again, this time with their new single Drag Me Down under the Sony Music label.
And interestingly, the band, which has a huge fan following, surprised their fans with just a single tweet — Liam Payne tweeted, “Bit of a surprise! Check out our new single! It’s called Drag Me Down and I hope you love it as much as we do.”
The surprise release got the fans very excited, and within hours, the song topped all the charts and landed at the No #1 spot in 83 countries. The song that has had an instant connect with the fans, features crashing guitars and soaring harmonies, showcasing a very mature sound.
Band members Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson say, “We’ve worked so hard on it, we hope you love the song.”
Shridhar Subramaniam, president, India and Middle East, Sony Music, says, “We’ve never experienced this kind of fan following for any global artist in India. The band has more Facebook fans in India than in the UK even, and this release got them even more excited. In less than 24 hours, it was topping charts on all the Indian services. The album will release in November 2015.
