“It has been three days since the pumpset got burnt due to overload. The first day, there was hardly any water in our homes. The second day, the management hired tankers but the flow of water in the taps remained very slow, hindering household work,” Archana Singh of G tower at Amrapali Zodiac said.

She said that on the third day (on Tuesday), the motor was yet to be fixed and the society management hired water tankers again.

The Noida authority said it is not responsible for providing water to the society as the builder has not procured the connection yet.

“The society has no water connection to get our supply. The builder was providing groundwater through its own borings,” Hom Singh, chief maintenance engineer of the Noida authority, said.

A spokesperson of the Amrapali, however, said that they are trying to fix the problem and restore the water supply.

“Our men are working relentlessly to fix the problem. We have ensured that no resident of our society suffers due to water scarcity and we have hired a number of private water tankers to fill the water tanks on the roof,” the spokesperson said.

The residents, however, accused the builder of lackadaisical attitude and sought the authority’s intervention.

“We celebrated Independence Day without water. It is just an example of what the builders are doing in Noida. The authority must take action against these people,” Pooja Sigh of Amrapali Zodiac said.
