The Noida authority on Thursday said that it has decided to include two industrialists as special invitees on its board to take important decisions pertaining to policies for industries, besides other developmental issues.

For many years, demand for membership on the board was a demand of industrialists’ groups based in the city as the authority takes important decisions for industrial units and small-scale units, in order to fuel economy and create a conducive ecosystem for industrial growth.

The Noida authority’s chief executive officer and chairman Alok Tandon on Thursday held a meeting with representatives of industrialists’ groups, including the Noida Entrepreneurs’ Association (NEA) and Micro Small Medium Enterprise Association (MSMEA), of Noida at the Indira Gandhi Kala Kendra located in Sector 6.

The meeting started at 3pm and ended at 4.30 pm. The Noida authority’s officers on special duty NK Singh and RK Singh also took part in the meeting.

The New Okhla Industrial Development Authority (Noida), which was established in 1976 as an autonomous body to boost industrialisation, has a board that consists of top bureaucrats to take decisions on policies for the city.

“We have promised members of industrial associations that we will invite two members, as special invitees, to discuss important issues pertaining to industries in our upcoming board meeting. But since there are many groups, the industrial groups will decide the two members who will participate in the board meeting. The two representatives will attend the board meeting only for discussion on policy decisions related to industries,” Alok Tandon, the CEO of Noida authority, said.

Apart from this, owners of industrial units submitted a letter seeking the attention of the Noida authority on various civic issues such as broken roads, lease rent, choked sewage and slums in industrial sectors.

“We have demanded that industrial plots should not be misused and allowed for other activities. Since the Noida authority was established to promote industries, the authority should encourage us. Slum dwellers in sectors 4, 8 and 6 create issues for owners of industrial units. Also, one-way system on Udyog Marg should be ended as it causes congestion,” Surendra Nahta, president of MSMEA, Noida, said.

The authority will also hold meetings with owners of industrial units once every two months to address their issues. The main demands of industrialists are a raw material market, freehold of property and other facilities required for smooth functioning of industries.

“We will look into the demands raised by industrialists and entrepreneurs and take necessary action,” Tandon said.

Officials said they will conduct a survey and address all issues that trouble industrialists.
