Indian shuttler PV Sindhu cruised into the final of the women’s singles event of badminton at the Rio Olympics after defeating Nozomi Okuhara of Japan 21-19, 21-10 on Thursday.

Thanks to her dominant victory, Sindhu has confirmed India of its second ever badminton medal after Saina Nehwal took bronze in the same event in London in 2012.

Sindhu will now meet Spanish top seed Carolina Marin, who hammered Li Xuerui 21-14 21-16 in the early semi-final.
