Photos: In India, 8 states comprise 90% of active Covid-19 cases

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Karnataka and Telangana are among the eight states in India that account for about 90% of the country’s active Covid-19 cases. On July 9, the Group of Ministers (GoM) held its 18th meeting under the chairpersonship of Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan on the current Covid-19 status in India. The GoM was informed about this and also that 8o% of the active cases have been reported from 49 districts.

Beds are seen at a temporary COVID-19 care centre as coronavirus cases rise across the state, at Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) on July 6. The state reported 1,373 new Covid-19 cases on July 9, which is the city’s biggest single-day jump so far. The city’s overall tally has reached 13,882 while total number of active cases at the moment are 10,870. (ANI)
