A seven-year-old boy was allegedly killed by a man for stopping him from stealing mangoes at a farm here on Monday.

The accused was identified as Muhammad Ali of Bihar and the deceased as Manoj Kumar. Police said the victim’s father Kamlesh Kumar Yadav is a native of Uttar Pradesh and works as a gardener at a farmhouse in Green Fields near Wariana village.
Maqsudan SHO Ramandeep Singh said the accused was working at a local cold drink factory and was friend of Kamlesh. “The accused, who had come to meet Kamlesh at the farmhouse, tried to steal mangoes from trees in the farmhouse. When Manoj objected to this, the accused got angry and hit the child’s head against a wall several times,” the SHO said.
Manoj succumbed to his injuries at a private hospital on Monday evening. A case under Section 302 (murder) of Indian Penal Code was lodged.
