Hearing adjourned on Haryana guest teachers' plea

The Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday adjourned to July 6 the hearing on petitions of sacked guest faculty teachers of Haryana.The petitions were taken up by the bench of justice Amit Rawal and posted for further hearing on July 6, when the main case also comes up for hearing. The Haryana government has to submit a compliance report on the termination of surplus guest faculty teachers on that date.

The Haryana government has to submit a compliance report on the termination of surplus guest faculty teachers on that date.

These teachers, who were issued termination notices earlier this month, had challenged the government decision on June 17. But a vacation bench had refused to stay the termination orders and adjourned hearing to June 29.

According to reports, the government had decided to dispense with the services of about 3,500 such teachers out of the total of 4,073, who were to be sacked as per the high court order. Meanwhile, one more petition was listed before the bench of justice Daya Chaudhary on the issue, which has also been referred to the bench of justice Amit Rawal.
