Yoga trips Swachh Bharat, at least for a day

Even as people participated with enthusiasm in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s International Yoga Day event here on Tuesday, the Swachh Bharat initiative seems to have taken the back seat, going by the litter left behind by the participants. The participants at Capitol Complex had to perform the session in pathetic conditions as the carpets were wet due to the rain the previous day.

Even as people participated with enthusiasm in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s International Yoga Day event here on Tuesday, the Swachh Bharat initiative seems to have taken the back seat, going by the litter left behind by the participants.

Piles of empty water bottles, food packets and placards were seen at the main venue—Capitol Complex—and other locations across the city after the yoga session was over. There was no provision to collect the litter and participants dumped it as per their suitability.
