Actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan has once again set his eyes on one of his own project. In 2015, he had announced a Hindi-Tamil bilingual action flick -- titled Thalaivan Irukkiran in Tamil and Amar Hain in Hindi -- with Saif Ali Khan, and it was supposed to be written and helmed by Haasan himself. After being announced with much fanfare, the film never took for reasons which remain yet unknown. In his latest interview to a Tamil magazine, the Dasavatharam star has revealed he plans to revive Thalaivan Irukkiran after the release of his long-delayed Vishwaroopam 2 and currently stalled Sabash Naidu.
The film, according to the statement released during the announcement of the project, will be a modern-day action-thriller and will touch upon politics, finance and the underworld. “Amar Hain is special to us in many ways. One, it is that iconic project which is sure to mark the much awaited Kamal Haasan working for Hindi cinema. Two, the film will see Kamal Haasan wearing multiple hats, that of an actor and a director on a story penned by him,” the statement had read.
The statement had further added that the story travels from Mumbai to North India and traverses some picturesque international cities as the plot progresses. The producers, along with the film’s mastermind Kamal, had planned to explore shooting locations in Mumbai, Delhi, London, Dubai, Jordan and parts of the US. Haasan, interestingly, was supposed to play the antagonist in the film.
