INDORE: India skipper Virat Kohli has reacted to comments made by Harbhajan Singh that allege ‘tailor-made conditions for spinners’ as reason for the success of India’s current crop of spinners.

Stating in a series of tweets, Harbhajan said that the Indore wicket was lopsided in favour of the tweakers using the hashtag #tailor made conditions for spinners. Harbhajan had added that he and India coach Anil Kumble would have picked up more wickets had they been provided the same wickets.
Asked for his reaction, K oh li was perplexed, and asked, “Who made that statement?”
When told it was Harbhajan, Kohli was diplomatic. “See, even if it is a turning pitch you have to bowl well. Spin is about how many revs you impart off the shoulder first. And then the ball will do something off the pitch ,” Kohl is aid.
“I remember after we lost to New Zealand in the World T20, suddenly their spinners were quality and we were found out. I don’t see anyone talking about that now. The same spinners have played. Why have they not been able to pick wickets? It is as simple as that. Our fast bowlers picked wickets everywhere. We never complained about anything. So… see you can give a guy a cement track to bat on. He [still] needs to have the mindset to score runs. It is as simple as that,” he added.
Kohli though reiterated that the wickets have not been the same throughout the series and it was team effort.
Harbhajan had stated that the trend of ‘tailor-made conditions had been on for four years’. Ashwin has been India’s best bowlers for a while now. He finished with his best-ever figures in a match and was even awarded his fourth consecutive man of the series award.
