Wimbledon 2021 Highlights: Novak Djokovic beats Matteo Berrettini to win 6th Wimbledon title and 20th Grand Slam title

30-0: WHAT WAS THAT?! A loose forehand dropm draws Novak forward and then Berrettini misses an easy pass by hitting it wide.

GAME DJOKOVIC! He's in now. Matteo nets his return.

15-0: Big serve to Djokovic's forehand, who is unable to out the ball back into play.

15-15: A backhand slice from the baseline ends in the net. He usually has a good backhand slice.

15-30: Forces Novak wide on the backhand and then has a chance to hit a down-the-line forehand winner. Instead, the ball ends up in the net.

30-30: A big serve that is too good for Novak to return

30-40: BP opportunity for Novak. Baseline exchange, a big one, Novak attacks and forces Matteo to lob. But it shoots wide.

15-30: Oh, what a chance. Berrettini draws a loose return from a great passing attempt. He charges forward and should have put it past Novak, but instead, he ends up netting it.

40-30: First ace

Game! A big serve down the T and Matteo can't return it.

Berrettini could have gone up 40-0, instead, he loses the game. Against Novak in a big final, you have to take your chances or else he punishes you.

15-0: BIG WAVE OF SUPPORT FOR BERRETTINI! A massive serve down the T. An outstretching Novak hits the return long. The cheer from the crowd says it all.

30-0: The crowd is long again as Novak's crosscourt forehand from the baseline rams into the net.

30-15: That's what Novak does. Returns it close to the feet of his opponent and more often than, they end up driving it long, just like Matteo here.

30-30: LUCKY! Djokovic's return clips the top of the net and just rolls over.

40-30: LOVELY! Matteo opens up the court with his inside-out forehand and then finishes the point of with an overhead. Classic Berrettini point. Big serve, big forehand and the finish.

GAME! Novak returns it long

0-15: Djokovic starts with a double fault. Well, the nerves can get the best of anyone. Even the World No.1

15-15: Berrettini returns the second in the net

15-30: Oooh, nerves, I tell you! A good first serve and Novak attacks but drags his cross-court forehand wide. Regulation that.

30-30: So far, both players showing signs of nerves as Berrettini hits his backhand return into the net.

30-40: Breakpoint opportunity! Another double fault from Novak. Shaky!

6) Longest final but ever-lasting pain for some (5-1)

Fours and 57 minutes was the duration of the 2019 Wimbledon final, the longest in the history of the tournament. Roger Federer has a couple of match points and yet, Djokovic rose to his fifth title with a 7-6,1-6,7-6,4-6,13-12 triumph. Federer was denied a 21st, while Djokovic coasted to his 16th. Since then, Federer has not managed to reach a Slam final.

4) 2015- Two in a row (3-1)

2015 final mirrored that of 2014, with the Serbian once again getting the better of Federer to bag his third Wimbledon title. In a match that lasted close to three hours, top-seed Djokovic won 7-6,6-7,6-4,6-3. This was their third meeting in a Grand Slam final at the time and the victory helped Djokovic level their head-to-head battle at 20 wins apiece.

5) 2018- Anderson no match for Djokovic (4-1)

South African Kevin Anderson had played a mammoth semifinal against John Isner two days before the final. He eventually won 7-6,6-7,6-7,6-4,26-24 in a mind-boggling encounter that lasted for more than six-and-a-half hours. As expected, that last-4 battle took everything out Anderson, hence clearing the road for Djokovic to lift his fourth title at the All England Club. The Serb won 6-2,6-2,7-6

2) 2013- Not way past the local legend (1-1)

During his second Wimbledon title clash in 2013, Djokovic went down to Great Britain's Andy Murray. After three hours and nine minutes, Murray won 6-4,7-5,6-4 and it was a significant part of their rivalry as it was their fourth meeting at the time.

3) 2014- Comeback in grand fashion (2-1)

As it turns out, that was the only defeat Djokovic faced in Wimbledon finals as he bounced back from a straight-set thrashing to beat Federer in a five-set thriller. After three hours and 56 minutes, he downed the Swiss Maestro 6-7,6-4,7-6,5-7,6-4

2011- First Wimbledon final, the first title (1-0)

The Serbian beat the then-defending champion Rafael Nadal 6–4, 6–1, 1–6, 6–3 in the final to lift his maiden Wimbledon title. That was also his third Grand Slam title, having won the 2008 and 2011 Australian Open.

Djokovic is appearing in his seventh Wimbledon final.

He currently enjoys a 5-1 win-loss record.
