Panthers RB Rico Dowdle shined with 206 yards and a TD in Week 5’s 27-24 win over the Dolphins but exited late with an apparent injury.

Carolina Panthers running back Rico Dowdle came into the Week 5 game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday as a replacement for Chuba Hubbard. After the Panthers' last-minute 27-24 win, head coach Dave Canales will surely wonder if Dowdle should replace Hubbard as RB1 for good.

The 27-year-old finished the game with 23 carries for 206 yards to go with one touchdown in what has been one of his career-best performances. However, Carolina Panthers fans, and those fantasy managers who drafted Dowdle, were left concerned as he had to leave the field with an apparent injury.

What Happened To Rico Dowdle?

Rico Dowdle left the game with an apparent injury to his leg. Based on the broadcast footage, it seemed that Dowdle's calf was hurt. Some reports claim that he was only suffering from cramps. As of now, Dowdle's injury does not seem major, and he was on the sidelines as the Panthers celebrated the epic victory over the Dolphins.

Thus, unless there is some major update in the presser later today, it seems that Dowdle will start for the Panthers again in Week 6 on October 12 as they take on the Dallas Cowboys at home at the Bank of America Stadium.

Rico Dowdle Looking Forward To Facing Cowboys

The Week 6 game against the Dallas Cowboys is extra-special for Rico Dowdle as he played five years for Jerry Jones' franchise. As they visit the Panthers next week, Dowdle is looking forward to playing with his old buddies.

Speaking to reporters in the locker room after Sunday's game, Dowdle revealed that he is "looking forward" to welcoming the Cowboys in North Carolina.

"They got to buckle up. I think they know for sure," Dowdle told reporter David Newton. "I've been there five years. They didn't keep me there five years for no reason. I definitely say that.

"Look forward to playing with those guys next week," he added. "We'll get to it and handle that when we get there."
