NSA Ajit Doval holds talks with Mike Pompeo, James Mattis on ‘future direction’ of Indo-US ties

Describing it “as a very broad-based discussion”, the sources said that Doval and the three top Trump administration officials talked about the “future direction” of the strategic relationship and identified areas of co-operation.

Talks on with India for new trade deals, say US officials

The two countries had a “frank and open” discussion on trade at the first 2+2 dialogue in New Delhi, and both sides had acknowledged “fair and reciprocal trade” is in their interest, the US said.

2+2 a milestone, India not a target of sanctions, says US official

India’s planned purchase of the S-400 air defence systems has put it in the path of sanctions aimed against Russia, while its large imports of Iranian crude and operational control of part of Chabahar has left it open to sanctions against Iran.

US expects India to reduce oil imports from Iran to zero by November
