“I was shocked at the pitiable condition of the shelter home and the cattle. After checking the register, I found that at least 600 cows have died in the past nine months. Of these, 30 deaths have occurred in this month alone,” said mayor Umesh Gautam.

Another Glanders-infected horse was euthanized in Bareilly on Monday. Officials and a team of veterinary doctors associated with the animal husbandry department carried out the exercise as per the Glanders and Farcy Act, 1899, in Sardar Nagar area of the district.
