Tirupati, a containment zone, shut for 14 days; Tirumala temple stays open

District collector Bharat Gupta told reporters that the entire temple town of Tirupati had been declared as a containment zone for Covid-19.

Cow who ate ball of explosives in Andhra Pradesh dies, 3 arrested

Peda Panjani police sub-inspector Chitreddy Lokesh Reddy said the police had arrested three hunters, including two from Kogileru village and remanded them in judicial custody on Tuesday.
The hunter had planted the explosive wrapped in some food stuff made of flour in the grass closer to the adjacent forest area in order to kill wild boars. The cow which was being grazed in the area ate it accidentally and it exploded in her mouth. (HT photo)

Cow’s jaw damaged after eating explosives wrapped food in Andhra’s Chittoor

Preliminary investigations revealed that the explosive, made of sulphur and other material, covered in an edible substance, was placed by some hunters to trap wild boars.

Andhra Pradesh, Telangana Covid-19 positive cases rise as migrants return

Out of 440 Covid-19 positive cases registered in AP since May 5, 150 were that of Telugu-speaking migrants from various states such as Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Odisha, West Bengal and Karnataka, said an official bulletin released by the state nodal officer for Covid-19, Arja Sreekanth, on Friday.

15-yr-old kicked in the head by classmate in Andhra school; dies

The deceased was a student of Class 10. He had been staying with his aunt at Eshwaramma Colony in the town, after the death of his parents in a road accident six years ago.

In Andhra, EC orders re-polling in two more polling stations in Chittoor
