'No need to panic’, says coal minister on worrying power crisis during heatwaves

Thermal power plants account for 70 per cent of India's power generation capacity of nearly four lakh MW. As per the power ministry's website, some are operating at reduced capacities - up to 40 per cent - due to the coal supply crisis.

Cabinet gives nod to policy for use of land acquired under CBA Act

In a statement, the coal ministry said that lands that are mined out or are practically unsuitable for mining are vulnerable to “unauthorised encroachment and entail avoidable expenditure on security and maintenance”.

The coal ministry said that the approved policy will help in realising the goal of Atmanirbhar Bharat by encouraging domestic manufacturing, reducing import dependence, and job creation, among others.(Aijaz Rahi/AP)

30 coal mines auctioned, Coal Ministry expecting revenue generation of 8,158 cr

The Ministry of Coal had launched the 2nd attempt of the auction of eleven coal mines for commercial mining on September 27, 2021, and bids were received for four mines.
