As claimed by Zee TV, Manav and Archana’s wedding in their prime time show Pavitra Rishta is the biggest wedding on Indian TV.

The shaadi, that has just gone on air, was shot extensively in different locations, the last one at RK Studios, Chembur, for the final wedding rituals. Buzz is that the expenses were close to crore rupees to create the set up and give the lagna a real-life feel. A source informs that the turnout at the Chembur venue was bigger than the channel and the production house had expected.

Though the wedding has just gone on air, rumours are that it will get called off over the next few episodes.
Ajay Bhalwankar from Zee TV confirms: “Yes, Manav and Archana’s wedding will hit the rocks in the next few episodes after the wedding. The shaadi will take up most of the episodes this week. Some patch work is still being done. The following week will feature the break-up.”

It’s been a trend on TV to break the lead pair’s wedding to grab maximum TRPs for the show. Apparently, even this show is taking the same route.

Bhalwankar disagrees. “Our show is a remake of Tirmuati Selvam, a Tamil show. We’ve not changed the plot. Even in that show, the lead pair’s wedding verges on breaking up soon after the rituals are completed.

“No one can call this a ‘twist’ because we didn’t script it thinking that it would shoot up the ratings. It was always part of the show and we were aware this was going to be the high point of the show throughout its run,” he reasons.
Bhalwankar, however, agrees that breaking marriages is a successful mantra for raising TRPs for any show. But he promises that the couple will eventually come together because the show is their love story.

Ekta Kapoor of Balaji Telefilms adds, “The story has a mother-daughter angle but it’s also about Manav and Archana and how they fall in love despite misunderstandings and other culminations.” Yeah, right then.
