Ridhi Dogra: I enjoy being the person who bridges the gap between TV and reality

In this day and age when television actors are vigorously trying their luck in Bollywood, actor Ridhi Dogra, who has appeared on the small screen for about a decade, never got into the rat race. “I like being a part of the television industry more and being known as an Indian television face. I don’t look down upon it,” says the actor, who recently quit the show Woh Apna Sa.

She adds, “I am aware of its shortcomings. I know there’s a divide between what they show on television and what actually is happening in the real world. But I enjoy being the person who bridges the gap; I make sure the character is real and people can identify with it.”

Ridhi, who is married to actor Raqesh Vashisth, has certain expectations from Bollywood, if she were ever to do a film. “The kind of creative satisfaction that I get from television, I would want that in films, too. I like exploring as an actor, no matter what the medium is,” says the actor.

“I would like to tell people that the television industry is cool and we are equally good,” adds Ridhi, who has been part of shows such as Rishta.com, Savitri, and Yeh Hai Aashiqui.

However, Ridhi also indicates that while she has no craving for a big break in films, a good opportunity wouldn’t hurt. “I want to work in all kinds of media. I am kind of an outsider — I don’t really know [much] beyond the casting process, what helps you make the cut. I would want to see myself on the big screen; however, I don’t think I am missing anything,” she says.
