Saumya Tandon explains Instagram post: People doubt that I’m fair and have green eyes

Actor Saumya Tandon of Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai! fame says she doesn’t blame people for thinking her look on-screen is fake because many actors misuse technology to enhance their features.

Browsing through TV actor Saumya Tandon’s Instagram page, one could not possibly miss an interesting post by her. It’s a photo of Saumya sans make-up, with the caption “Lot of people ask me if my eye colour is real... yes yes yes I have dark green eyes .....all real”. When asked about it, the Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai! actor replies that she felt this is the best way to clarify doubts about what her real eye colour is.

“I don’t know where such disbelief comes from. At times showbiz is fake and people misuse technology to enhance features and make one look appealing. [It is] not just about my eye colour, many have also asked me whether I am fair in real life, since in my current show I am addressed as gori mem,” laughs Saumya, before adding, “I don’t blame them. Reality at times doesn’t match up to the reel world. So I decided to clarify all the doubts once and for all.”

Saumya feels one should respect the looks they are born with and not try to make themselves look better, artificially. “I have seen people wearing colourful lenses that don’t go with their skin tone. I don’t understand why they do that. One should love the way he or she is. God has made all of us beautiful. Everyone is beautiful in their own way, one just needs to understand how they can enhance their looks by choosing the right kind of clothes, taking good care of skin and hair etc,” she adds.

Personally, Saumya feels she looks better without make-up and when she is off -camera. “I am a normal girl and I think I look better in real life rather than in front of the camera. Too much of make-up doesn’t suit me either. That is why even in my [ongoing] show I wear less make-up. And I also style and design my wardrobe for the fiction show as I know what looks better for me. I don’t like how actors tend to overdress,” she says.
