The Arab League, on May 16, called for UN peacekeeping forces in the Palestinian territories during a summit in Bahrain's Manama. The “Manama Declaration” issued by the 22-member bloc sought “international protection and peacekeeping forces of the United Nations in the occupied Palestinian territories” until a two-state solution is implemented.
