The Supreme Court on March 19 issued notice to Centre on over 200 petitions challenging constitutional validity of Citizenship Amendment Act. The top court, which refused to stay the implementation of the new citizenship law, sought Centre’s response within three weeks. 236 petitions were filed in the Supreme Court against CAA. Petitioners included Jairam Ramesh of Congress, Mahua Moitra of Trinamool Congress and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi.
