Covid update: 12 nations ask India for vaccine; new virus variant in UK

From the discovery of a new strain of virus in the United Kingdom, to 12 countries asking India for vaccine - here are the top news updates on the Covid-19 pandemic. India's Union health minister Harsh Vardhan said that the country's Covid recovery rate - over 95% - is the highest in the world. Around a dozen countries have asked India to supply vaccines, as per NITI Aayog member VK Paul, who also heads a special advisory panel on vaccine distribution. Meanwhile, fresh curbs were announced in London and southeast England following the discovery of a coronavirus variant which is significantly more infectious.
