Watch: Why Special Frontier Force deployment at LAC rattled China
China continues to provoke India at the LAC in Ladakh. In the latest, the Chinese troops engaged in provocative action along the Rechin La region, south of Pangong Tso Lake. China then blamed India forces and alleged that Indian troops had crossed the LAC and fired warning shots on Chinese border patrol soldiers who were about to negotiate. The Indian Army though countered the Chinese and said that Indian forces had not crossed the LAC and added that the PLA has been blatantly violating agreements and carrying out aggressive acts. So why is the Chinese Army provoking despite talks being underway at multiple levels to ensure peace in the region? China expert and senior journalist Atul Aneja decodes the reasons that could be behind China’s belligerence at the LAC. In an exclusive conversation with Hindustan Times Aditi Prasad, Aneja linked China’s latest provocation with the India’s use of the Special Frontier Force and said that the move had angered China and also revived Tibetan nationalism. Aneja also argued that China’s actions should not be viewed exclusively with a military prism. Watch the full video for all the details.
