112: Delhi gets single emergency number for police, ambulance, fire services

A single emergency number was launched in the national capital. '112' is intended to replace the separate helpline numbers for police aid (100), fire services (101), and ambulance assistance (102). Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, G Kishan Reddy, presided over the launch event. Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik was also present. The commissioner said that the new single helpline system would reduce the force's response time.
