Protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act erupted nationwide on Thursday. Protests were held at several parts in the national capital where people gathered at Mandi House, Red Fort. Delhi police briefly shut internet services at several areas amid protests. Section 144 was imposed in several areas around Red Fort. The Delhi Metro shut at least 17 station amid protests. Yogendra Yadav, Congress leader Sanjay Dikshit, former JNU student leader Umar Khalid were detained by the police at different locations. In Bihar's Patna, SFI members halted trains while protested and CPI-M workers blocked railway track at Lahersarai railway station. Bandh was organised in Bengaluru where security was beefed up and section 144 was imposed. Ramchandra Guha was detained by police. Other states where people gathered to protest were Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh and Assam.
