Triple Talaq Bill passed in RS: BJP hails decision, oppn calls it ‘mistake’

The Triple Talaq Bill was passed in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. The development marked a historic win for the NDA government. While the ruling party hailed the decision, opposition strongly criticised it. The law criminalises a Muslim man to divorce his wife by uttering 'talaq' thrice. Breaking of law will result in a jail term of three years.
