Criminalisation in politics

As the electoral slugfest intensifies in India's poll-bound Karnataka state, the state's watchdog body supervising the polls expressed its concern over the increasing tendency among political parties to field candidates with criminal antecedents. The first round of the three-phased polls in Karnataka itself boasts of 47 candidates with criminal cases against them.
