Chief of Maharashtra, Vilasrao Deshmukh met Sonia Gandhi, in New Delhi on Thursday, February 7, 2008. Deshmukh's meeting with his party chief came amid a simmering row over domestic migrants in Mumbai. Deshmukh said that all the migrants in Maharashtra were very much part of the state and their safety was the responsibility of the provincial government.
