India opened its account in the shame tally ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth Games, as twelve of its athletes test positive for doping, delivering a major blow to the medal hopes of the host nation. With just 26 days for the games, six wrestlers, three swimmers, two athletes and one netball player have failed the doping test, conducted by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA), causing a huge embarrassment to the hosts. The organisers were quick to react, washing their hands of the entire fiasco. Eleven, out of the twelve cases have tested positive for methylhexaneamine, used as a nasal decongestant and also found in geranium oil, widely used cooking oil in the country.
