Flood scene grim in Bengal

Heavy rains and floods wreaked havoc in West Bengal on Friday, rendering thousands homeless. The lives of scores of villagers in Cooch Behar district in northern West Bengal are simply on hold as floods submerged their homes and farmlands. Incessant rains over the past few days and overflowing river water has damaged homes, drowned swathes of crops and even blocked roads, forcing villagers to look for shelter.
