Former chief of Assam Syeda Anwara Taimur on Sunday quit the state ruling Congress party to join All India United Democratic Front ahead of the assembly polls in the state. Taimur, who was state chief from December 1980 to 30 June 1981, claimed that the party was indulged in selling electoral tickets to the highest bidders. She joined All India United Democratic Front headed by Maulana Badruddin Ajmal. It was formed during the last Assembly election.
