Indo-Bangla border fencing to check infiltration

Authorities in Assam began the fencing of 7.9kilometer India-Bangladesh border in an attempt to curb infiltration. Estimated to cost about 250 million rupees the permanent fencing in the Dubhri region of the state will keep the infiltrators, smugglers and criminals at bay. The two countries share a 4,000 km porous border through jungles and rivers, along which their border forces often exchange fire to stop smuggling and illegal crossings.
