Left front opposes special package for Maoists

Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) staged a protest meet in Kolkata on Friday against the announcement of Trinamool Congress led West Bengal government to offer special financial package extended to the surrendered Maoist ultras. The announcement of offering a stipend of rupees 2000 a month to surrendered ultra on August 12 came a day after the Maoist ultras reportedly were engaged in a fierce gun battle with the security forces in the Jangal Mahal region of Paschimi Medinipur, widely regarded as a stronghold of the rebels.
