Maoist shutdown disrupts normal life in Ranchi and Gaya

Normal life came to a standstill in Ranchi in Jharkhand and Gaya in Bihar, following the shutdown call by the Maoists to protest against the alleged police atrocities in Lalgarh in West Bengal. Both road and railway traffic have been affected by the shutdown. In Gaya, the government transport has been stopped for the next 48 hours, spelling menace for passengers and operators.
