Myanmar' Military Gen Than Shwe arrives in New Delhi

Myanmar junta chief General Than Shwe, arrived in New Delhi on Tuesday where he was accorded a ceremonial reception by the president Pratibha Devisingh Patil. Against the backdrop of China's growing clout in Southeast Asia, India and Myanmar are expected to sign pacts to expand cooperation across a number of areas like counter-terrorism, business, energy and infrastructure. Shwe will hold discussions with Manmohan Singh, Foreign Minister SM Krishna and also meet opposition leader Sushma Swaraj.
