Nation pays homage to Indira Gandhi

The nation today paid homage to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 94th birth anniversary. President Pratibha Patil and Vice President Hamid Ansari along with other leading personalities paid rich tributes to the leader. Floral tributes were also offered by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Union minister Kamal Nath and Congress general secreatary Rahul Gandhi among others at her memorial Shakti Sthal. Indira Gandhi, known as Iron lady of India, became nation's first woman Prime Minister in 1966 and served four terms from 1966 to 1977 and a fourth one from 1980-84 in office.
