Oil spill damage quite extensive: Jairam

Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh took a stock of cleanup operation undertaken by BMC of the shores infested by oil spill due to ship collision off the Mumbai. Expressing his concern, Ramesh revealed the details of the bionomical tragedy. The formation of a thick layer of poisonous oil in the seawaters has inflicted a distressing blow to the bionomical equilibrium by rendering fishes, turtles and other species immobile due to its high viscosity.
