PM chairs the first cabinet meeting

The newly formed Indian cabinet met for the first time on Saturday in New Delhi after being sworn-in by President Pratibha Devisingh Patil. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who was sworn-in for the second consecutive term, chaired the meeting at his official residence. Singh has named 19 members to his new cabinet, many of them veteran colleagues in his Congress party.
