PM Modi: India and Sri Lanka to expand on defence and security cooperation

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena arrived in India on his first state visit abroad, as a part of efforts to repair relations with New Delhi. In his speech on the occasion, PM Narendra Modi said that India is pleased to be Sri Lanka's largest trading partner.He added that India intends to further improve air and sea connectivity with Sri Lanka. The bilateral agreement on Civil Nuclear Co-operation also a sign of mutual trust between the two countries. This is the first such agreement Sri Lanka has signed. It opens new avenue for co-operation including areas like agriculture and health care.India also agreed to expand on defence and security cooperation.
