PM, Sonia laud Panchayati Raj on National Panchayati Raj Day

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh conferred awards to Panchayati Raj institutions for their excellent performance and contribution in the rural sector on National Panchayati Raj Day at Vigyan Bhawan in national capital New Delhi on Sunday. Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Union rural development minister Vilasrao Deshmukh were present at the occasion. Meanwhile, Sonia said that Panchayati Raj is a tool of economic developmental projects and also helps in making arrangements in sectors like schools, hospitals and other local institutions.
