Political temperature heats up ahead of assembly poll result

Political leaders of various parties in Guwahati expressed confidence of their victory, as the state prepares to declare results of the recently concluded polls. As reports of exit polls hit news channels on Wednesday, leaders of Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and other parties began to say they expected the win of their respective parties. Assam Pradesh Congress Committee chief Bhubaneswar Kalita said the party would bag 70 assembly seats out of 126. Lawmaker Biren Baishya, a member of the executive council of the regional Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), was confident about the results, and said his party and its allies would emerge the winner.
