Punjab farmers enter retail market

Farmers in Punjab have opened retail food vends and are giving a tough competition to chain stores opened by multinational companies. The state's Potato Growers Association has opened a chain of stores to sell food articles. The Association has roped its 150 members, who are producers of a variety of vegetables like tomatoes, green chillies, to make a cooperative effort into the agro-retail sector.
