Nicolás Maduro has issued a challenge to President Trump amid rising Caribbean military tensions, defiantly accusing the US of “psychological terrorism” and pledging Venezuela is “ready for war” even as underpaid and shortstaffed. At a rally in Caracas, Maduro vowed loyalty to his country and outlined plans to make Venezuela ready for any potential U.S. invasion. Maduro’s fiery remarks follow confirmation of a secret phone call with Trump, in which the US president gave Maduro a deadline to leave Venezuela along with his family for safe passage, or face regime change.
