KL Sharma is the Congress candidate from Amethi which used to be a Gandhi stronghold until 2019 when Smriti Irani breached the family castle. Many within the Congress and BJP were hoping for another rematch between Rahul Gandhi and Smriti Irani. BJP has mocked KL Sharma’s candidature with one leader even calling him Rahul Gandhi’s peon or Chaprasi.
