India alliance suffered back-to-back setbacks on January 24 as key partners TMC and AAP announced to go solo in West Bengal and Punjab, respectively. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that her party TMC would go solo on all 42 Lok Sabha seats in Bengal. Hours later, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann declared his intentions to see AAP win all 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state. The Bengal CM also suffered a minor head injury in a car accident in Kolkata, but later said she could have died had her driver not applied brakes in time. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that he will ensure Rahul Gandhi’s arrest after the Lok Sabha elections amid his tussle with the Congress leader who is in the state as part of his Bharat Nyay Jodo Yatra.
